A meaningful handmade gift for anyone with a connection to this magnificent bay on the wild Atlantic coast of the northwest.
Bring Ireland's wild coastal spirit into your home with this beautifully handcrafted round wooden map of Sligo Bay. One of the great bays of the Wild Atlantic Way, Sligo Bay stretches from the surf beach at Strandhill in the south to the links and sandy strands of Rosses Point in the north, with Coney Island sitting at its heart and the Garavogue River carrying the waters of Lough Gill out through Sligo Harbour to the sea. The bay is framed by two of Ireland's most iconic landmarks — Knocknarea with Queen Maeve's cairn to the south and the dramatic flat-topped outline of Benbulben to the northeast — creating a panorama that has inspired artists, poets and dreamers for generations. This is Yeats Country at its most elemental, a bay where the Atlantic, the mountains and the sky come together in constantly changing light.
This handcrafted 3D wooden map captures Sligo Bay's coastline, harbour, islands and surrounding landscape in layered detail — made by hand in our Sligo studio from sustainable materials.
Places marked on this map: Sligo · Sligo Harbour · Strandhill · Rosses Point · Coney Island · Ballisodare · Carney · Lissadell

Make it personal:
Add a brass pin to mark a favourite spot — a surf break, a harbour, an island, a family home or a special place anywhere around the bay — with a short engraved message on the back.
Our Local Spots maps are round, framed wooden 3D maps, designed to capture meaningful Irish places in a simple, tactile format.
Each map measures approximately 220mm across and 42mm deep. It is ready to hang and also comes with a small clip-together stand, so it can be displayed on a wall, shelf, desk or sideboard.
Each map is framed without glass, allowing the depth, texture and natural wood grain to remain visible. Available with a natural or black frame.
Depths and elevations are shown in metres where included in the design.
You can add a short engraved message to the back of your map and a brass pin to mark a special place on the front for an additional charge.
To add this option, select “Map with engraving + brass pin” before adding the map to your cart, then enter your message and the Eircode or location details in the box provided.
If the place does not have an Eircode, you can describe the location instead.
Each Local Spots map is designed and made by Outcrop in our County Sligo studio.
We use geographic data to create the layered map design, then laser cut, stain, hand-sand, finish, frame and check each piece in our workshop before it is packed for delivery.
Made in small batches, each map carries the natural warmth of wood and the care of something made by hand.
Each Local Spots map is made from FSC-certified bamboo plywood, chosen for its strength, fine grain and natural warmth.
Our round frames are made from FSC-certified birch, sourced from sustainably managed Finnish forests. We use water-based, non-toxic glues and stains to finish each piece by hand.
Your map is wrapped in protective tissue and presented in an unbleached, recycled cardboard box. Our packaging is plastic-free, and each piece is designed to be kept, gifted and enjoyed for years.
Your map comes ready to hang, and also includes a small clip-together wooden stand for displaying it on a shelf, desk or sideboard.
To use the stand, pop out the two pieces, slot them together and rest your map securely on top.
For best results, display indoors and avoid prolonged direct sunlight,
as this may gradually affect the blue colour or natural bamboo tone over time.
Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or a vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment.
Each Local Spots map is made to order in our Sligo studio, rather than held in large quantities of stock. This helps us make carefully, reduce waste and manage our small workshop space.
Please allow up to 2 weeks for dispatch during our normal production flow.
Your map will be carefully wrapped and presented in an unbleached, recycled cardboard box, ready to give as a gift. We do not include pricing inside the parcel, so it can be sent directly to the recipient.
If your order is a gift, you can leave us a note at checkout with any packing or delivery details.
If you need your map sooner, please contact us before ordering and we’ll let you know what is possible.
